KOHAT, May 25: Two people, including a police constable, were killed during exchange of fire between estranged relatives at a jirga in Ustarzai area here on Friday.

Sources said that sister of constable Saqlain had come to her house after some differences with her in-laws. They said that her in-laws came to take her back home and talks were underway at the jirga to settle their family dispute when they started firing at each other. As a result, constable Saqlain and Amir Ali Shah died on the spot, while one Qasim Raza was injured.

Ustarzai police station registered a cross case against Aftab and injured Raza and arrested them.

In another incident, an Afghan national was gunned down by his enemies in Afghan refugee camp at Ghamkol here.

The Junglekhel police said that one Abdul Karim was shot dead by two brothers Hayatullah and Zakir over old enmity. A report has been registered against the accused.

Menawhile, police in Doaba area of Hangu arrested a suspicious person with fake currency notes on Friday.

Officials said that police stopped a suspicious man in Mohammad Khawaja area of Hangu city and recovered Rs11,000 fake currency notes from his possession.

They said that the man had been taken to Doaba police station for investigations.

CLERKS’ DEMANDS: All Pakistan Clerks Association has threatened to stage a protest in Islamabad on June 1 if their genuine demands for increase in salary and allowances are not accepted.

Speaking at a meeting of clerks here on Friday, APCA Kohat district president Syed Farooq also demanded appointment of local people in communication and works departments.

The speakers demanded of the government to increase salaries of clerical staff by 45 per cent and medical allowance by 100 per cent because of the record price hike under the present government.

They said that CP Fund should be replaced with GP Fund, contract employment be regularised and advance increments given to those having higher education.

POWER PROBLEM: MNA Pir Dilawar Shah has said that technicians of Peshawar Electric Supply Company are working day and night to restore power supply to parts of Kohat, which was suspended following a fire incident in the main grid station last week.

He said that power supply to Junglekhel locality would be restored in next 24 hours. The MNA said that he would soon hold an open kutchery in Junglekhel to hear public complaints.
