KARACHI: A top official of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) has ruled out the possibility of veteran cueist Mohammad Yousuf getting the coach’s job before his retirement from the national circuit.

“How can he be eligible for the post of coach when he’s competing in the circuit?” Alamgir Shaikh argued while responding to newsmen’s queries on Thursday.

He, however, had a word of praise for Yousuf for introducing Pakistan on the world map by winning the World, Asian and Master’s titles during his illustrious career. “I’m ready to go and talk to him but he has to stop his outburst against the PBSA,” Alamgir added.

The official said PBSA only had verbal discussion with Yasin Merchant and Sanjay Sawanth from India and there’s no further breakthrough.

“The appointment of coach depends on the government funding,” he added. —Sports Correspondent
