KARACHI, May 16: People in the Ibrahim Hyderi area of Korangi staged a protest demonstration on Wednesday against disconnection of electricity by KESC for ‘non-payment of dues’.

The affected residents of the locality blocked roads, burnt tyres and besieged a KESC generation plant to put pressure on authorities concerned for acceptance of their demands.

The Karachi Electric Supply Company in a statement condemned the violent protest, blocking of traffic near its Korangi generation plant and described the protesters of Ibrahim Hyderi Goth as “chronic defaulters”.

The residents, however, claimed they were deprived of electricity for several hours almost every day and sent inflated bills, which was unjust.
