QUETTA, May 12: A police constable was shot dead in Killi Badini Sariab area of the city on Saturday night, officials said.

“Constable Abdul Qadir Mengal was standing in Killi Badini area when two unidentified assailants riding a motorbike opened fire on him,” a police official told Dawn.

Constable Mengal was seriously wounded and died on way to hospital, the official said, adding the attackers fled the scene.

The body of the constable was handed over to the family after post-mortem.

Several police personnel have died or suffered injuries in terrorist attacks in the city over the past few days. Proscribed religious outfit Lashkar-i-Jhangvi has claimed responsibility for these attacks.
