MANSEHRA, May 10: A 16-year-old boy, who was molested and critically injured by a man last week in Niral area of Ghari Habibullah tehsil, on Thursday died.

Local station house officer Jehanzeb Khan told reporters that the accused first molested the boy and then attacked him with a dagger.

He said the child, who resisted the attack and suffered critical injuries, was under treatment at a local hospital.

The SHO said the alleged molester was arrested after being on the run for a few days and booked under sections 324 and 377 of CrPc. He, however, said after the boy’s death, the Section 324 had been converted to Section 302.

The deceased’s uncle has appealed to the chief justice to step in and ensure speedy trial of the accused for early dispensation of justice to him.

Also in the day, a mosque’s prayer leader axed his wife to death in Maloga area of Oghi tehsil. Abdul Khaliq killed Zarbar Jan as she was offering her prayers.

Local police arrested the alleged killer, lodged an FIR against him and began investigation. The reason for the killing couldn’t be ascertained but police sources said the accused was mentally ill.—Correspondent
