RAWALPINDI, May 6: The district health department will launch a week-long drive in Rawalpindi district from May 21 to create awareness among people regarding health of the expecting mothers and the newborns.

Executive District Officer (EDO) Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal told Dawn that during the campaign lady health workers (LHWs) would provide Tetanus vaccination to women between 18 to 45 years of age in rural and urban areas of the district.

“During the drive”, he added, “vaccinators will also provide vaccination of Polio, Measles, Diphtheria, Hepatitis B and Tuberculosis (TB) to the children below two years of age.”

Apart from this, the LHWs would also visit from door to door and impart basic health and hygiene education to the expecting mothers, he said.
