ISLAMABAD: A married woman was gunned down allegedly by her brother early Tuesday, police said.

The 19-year-old victim, M.S., a native of Golra, was found dead in her brother’s house. The police said she was shot twice on the upper part of the body from a close range.

Her husband, a student of BA, told the police that he lived near the house of his in-laws and married M.S. in September 2011. About 45 days of their marriage, he added, she disappeared with another man.

He said her brother - M.I. - started searching her and last week brought her back. However, the brother kept the victim in his house and did not allow her even to go to her husband’s house.

The husband said he heard gunshots from the house of his in-laws at about 2:30am on Tuesday and rushed there and found his wife lying dead in one of the rooms. He said he along with his brother and a sister-in-law searched the house but found M.I. missing.

He suspected that M.I. was behind the killing of his wife in the name of honour.

Meanwhile, a woman was found dead in the Golra area. Passersby spotted the body at a graveyard and informed the police who shifted it to hospital.

The victim was said to be in her 50s. The police suspected that she had been poisoned to death.

A chit attached to the scarf of the victim stated that she had committed suicide by consuming poison due to family problems.
