Beheaded body recovered

RAWALPINDI, April 30: Police on Monday found a beheaded and disfigured body of a man who had been missing since February 16 this year from Westridge, police said.

The victim’s wife, Zainab Bibi, a mother of eight and her paramour Khyzir Hayat, a father of four were arrested by the police on suspicion after the investigation into the case started.

Ameer Mukhtar’s body whose head and arms were chopped off was recovered after the police party was led by one of the murder suspects to a graveyard located along the bank of the Nullah Leh. There, the body parts were found dumped in a ditch covered by heavy stones.Police said Mukhtar went missing after his wife Zainab went to her paramour’s house and he followed her. On seeing his wife in Khyzir’s house, he got annoyed and taunted her.

“A quarrel ensued between Khyzir and Mukhtar during which the latter was attacked and murdered,” Sub-inspector Ameer Gondal who is leading the murder investigation said.

He added since the man went missing and the police launched an investigation, Zainab who worked at Khyzir’s house as maid was interrogated who revealed the real circumstances in which she, with the help of her employer-cum-paramour, murdered her husband in cold blood. Khyzir Hayat was arrested by the police on Saturday from Mohallah Zamindaran who confessed to the crime and led the police party to the site where they had buried the corpse.— Staff Reporter

Minister’s offices burgled

ISLAMABAD, April 30: Two LCDs (liquid crystal display) were stolen from the offices of the federal ministry of production here on Monday.

Joint Secretary Naushad Fatima informed the police that the LCDs installed in the offices of Minister Anwar Ali Cheema and Secretary Gul Mohammad were found missing along with some files and documents. The police reached the offices at Pak-Secretariat and found all the locks, doors and windows intact.

It was suspected that the valuables along with the documents were taken away on Sunday and the

incident came to light when the officials came to work on Monday. — Staff Reporter

Police nab two foreigners

ISLAMABAD, April 30: The capital police arrested two foreigners for their alleged involvement in thefts and recovered stolen items from them.

A police spokesman said here on Monday that Shalimar police arrested an African, Yousuf Tahasan and a Palestinian  Mohammad Boosheri for their alleged involvement in thefts and recovered stolen items including CPUs, printers, and other valuables from them. They had stolen the items from Shahid Ali.

During investigation the foreigners failed to produce their traveling documents. As a result, they were booked under the 14 Foreign Act besides the theft charges. — Staff Reporter

Tourist family looted

MURREE, April 30: A tourist family of Lahore was looted by three robbers on Kuldana Road adjacent to the Mall Road in Murree.

After depriving women of jewellery, mobile phones, Rs25,000 in cash and a license of their weapon, the robbers managed to flee towards the nearby jungle.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abbas Majeed Marwat told Dawn that police reached the spot soon after they were informed. He said he would take action against the ASI who was found absent from duty when the incident took place.

He added the police gave Rs4,000 and some fuel to the affected family as they were left penniless.

It is worth mentioning here that Kuldana Road is an aloof place where movement of vehicles is limited especially at night and many similar incidents have earlier been reported.

The locals have demanded that a permanent security arrangement should be made for the protection of the tourists ahead of the peak tourism season.— Correspondent
