CHARSADDA, April 28: Five people were killed and 12 others injured when two hand grenades were hurled at guests of a wedding ceremony here on Saturday night.

Police said the wedding of Noor Alam, son of Faqir Mohammad, was in progress when the grenades were thrown inside the residence of the bridegroom.

Three girls and a boy were killed on the spot. A person died in the hospital.

The deceased were identified as Gul Bar, Khudeja, Sabeeda Hussain and Hafeesa. The name of the fifth victim could not be ascertained.

The injured were taken to the Charsadda DHQ hospital. The mother of the bridegroom lodged an FIR against Saleem, Sher Alam, Saeed Bashir, Arshad and Ruhul Amin.

The motive behind the attack was said to be old enmity.—Faiz Muhammad
