PWF invites 13 lifters for camp

ISLAMABAD, Dec 9: The Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF) has named 13 lifters for camp training ahead of next March’s 9th SAF Games in Islamabad.

The strength sanctioned by the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) is 12 lifters and two coaches.

The players invited for training that begins Tuesday in Islamabad are: Ishtiaq Ghafoor (Wapda, 56 kgs), Muhammad Ali, Tanveer Sultan (Wapda, 62 kgs), Shahbaz Abdullah Butt (Wapda, 69 kgs), Awais Akbar, Khurrum Shahzad (Railways, 77 kgs), Shujauddin Malik, Abad Ali (Wapda, 85 kgs), Hassan Aslam, Ali Aslam (Wapda, 94 kgs), Kashif Hanif Butt, Sajjad Amin Malik (Wapda, 105 kgs), Wasif Hanif Butt (Railways, plus 105 kgs).

Khizar Hayat and Najamus Saeed have been appointed the coaches.

Meanwhile, the 26th Quaid-i-Azam Championship is due to start in Gujranwala from Dec 23. Teams from Balochistan, Islamabad, NWFP, Punjab, Sindh, Army, Railways, UGC and Police have bee invited to take part.

Competition will be held in eight body weight categories.
