Assistant director of local government and transaction officers of town municipal administrations (defunct) of Umerkot, Kunri, Samaro and Pithoro wrote to section officer of LG department Karachi to verify nine appointment orders.

SO (administration) Mohammad Saleem Jahangir replied in a letter dated April 21 that the appointment orders of Arbab Ali Junejo (order number 59421 dated 9-4-2012), Hameed Junejo, Azizullah Ibrahim (56631 dated 7-3-2012), Muhammad Ismail Subhan (56632 dated 7-3-2012), Mushtaq Ahmed (70358 dated 11-4-2012), Kanwal Vashdev (59612 dated 3-4-2012) and Jean Khan (72517 dated 13-4-2012) and Santosh Kumar appointed to TMA (defunct) offices in Umerkot, Samaro, Kunri and Pithoro were fake.

The official directed the authorities concerned to file cases on charges of forgery and fraud against the letter holders and those responsible for issuing them.

The elements involved in forgery and issuance of such bogus orders were using all channels to save their skin, said sources in the LG department.

They alleged the orders had been issued by the local government secretariat through a contractor after payment of Rs200,000 to Rs500,000.
