KARACHI, April 23: Pakistan Naval Engineering College (PNEC), Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and hosts Aga Khan University (AKU) qualified for the semi-finals of the 10th AKU Inter-University football tournament here on Monday.

PNEC defeated Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) 4-1 on penalties after their quarter-final had ended goalless at the end of regulation time.

Meanwhile, Hamza Shahid scored a first-half brace as IoBM hammered PAF-Karachi Institute of Engineering and Technology (PAF-KIET) 4-0 to set up a semi-final clash against PNEC.

IBA had to go the full distance before they defeated Hamdard University 4-2 on penalties after the match had ended 2-2 with Zain Maniya scoring twice for the winners.

IBA will face AKU in the last-four clash after they beat Hamdard University 3-2 on penalties after the match was tied 2-2 at the end of normal time.

The matches were supervised by referees M. Arsalan, Ansar Javed, M. Tahir, Noor ul Haq, Abdul Aziz, Hameed-ur-Rehman with Sajjad Akbar as official scorer and Munawar Khan as match commissioner.

The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday.
