ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to discard the contempt of court case against former law minister Babar Awan despite an unconditional apology, DawnNews reported.
The two-member apex court bench, headed by Justice Aijaz Afzal, was to indict Awan today.
During the hearing, Awan’s counsel Ali Zafar requested the court to consider his client’s apology and to stop further proceedings against the former minister.
Responding to Zafar’s request, the court said that firstly Awan would be indicted for contempt of court and then a decision to grant an apology would be looked into.
The hearing was adjourned to April19.
