LAKKI MARWAT, April 17: A cadet college will be set up in Abakhel area on the outskirts of Lakki city as Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has already approved the project, says MPA Yasmeen Zia.

Addressing a cheque distribution ceremony here on Tuesday, she said that the project would cost Rs700 million. She said that people of the area would get an opportunity to equip their children with quality education after establishment of the college.

The ceremony was organised by social welfare department wherein 165 special persons received cheques as financial assistance. District Coordination Officer Nisar Ahmad, Syed Khalid Israr Shah, District Social Welfare Officer Obaidullah, District Zakat Committee chairman Mamraiz Khan and local leaders of Awami National Party were also present on the occasion.

The MPA said that government launched several projects to provide facilities to special persons and womenfolk. “During the last four years, the government restored peace and brought normalcy to the volatile parts of the province,” she said.

Ms Zia said that ANP lawmakers, leaders and activists rendered great sacrifices for restoration of peace. She said that government made special allocations for uplift of backward areas including Lakki Marwat to bring those at par with the developed parts of the province.

Meanwhile, elementary and secondary education department organised a certificate and prize distribution ceremony in Government Primary School Kala Manjiwala here on Tuesday.

Executive District Officer (Education) Haji Meer Azam was chief guest while DDO Rehmatullah Khan presided over the event.

ADOs Hameedullah Khan, Abdul Rehman Rashid, Aqal Wazir, Qadeer Shah, Saleh Badshah and Nisar Muhammad and All Pakistan Teachers Association district general secretary Haji Abdul Rahim, Shakir Tajazai, parents and notables of the area also attended the ceremony.

Mr Azam awarded ‘teacher of the year’ certificates to best teachers in recognition of their services. He also gave away trophies and prizes to the students who got first, second and third positions in the examinations.

The EDO called upon the teachers to impart quality education to students and concentrate on their character building.

He said that patriotism and love for religion should be promoted among students through education.
