LAHORE, Dec 8: The Joint Action Committee of teachers, doctors and students held demonstrations outside the Badshahi Mosque and Data Darbar after Eid prayers to protest against boards of governors, Model University Ordinance and victimization of teachers.

They chanted slogans against the government for sticking to its black laws despite their six-month long protest campaign.

JAC leaders Nazim Hasnain, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Prof Dr Haris Rashid and Hafiz Abdul Khaliq warned the government if it did not withdraw its anti-health and education policies by Dec 11, they would stage a sit-in outside the Punjab Assembly.

Nazim Hasnain said Qazi Husain Ahmad, Saad Rafiq, Qasim Zia and many other political leaders had assured him that they would present themselves for arrest along with the JAC leadership on Dec 11.

APP adds: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will support the JAC protest demonstration to be held on Wednesday.

This was stated by MMA parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Qazi Husain Ahmad while speaking at an Eid Milan Party at Mansoora on Saturday.

“I will present myself for arrest if anyone of the protesters is arrested on the day,” Qazi said.

He urged the government to accept the JAC demands besides withdrawing the Legal Framework Order.
