QUETTA, April 7: Seven people, among them three security personnel, were killed and three others injured in a rocket attack and incidents of firing in parts of Balochistan on Saturday.

A Frontier Corps man was killed when unidentified attackers fired rockets at a checkpost in Barkhan area late on Saturday night, sources said. The deceased was identified as Nibat Khan.

Official sources said that two of the attackers were killed when the FC personnel returned fire.

A police sub-inspector, identified as Abdul Samad, died when armed men opened fire on him in Kalat town. The sources said that the assailants came on motorcyclists and escaped after shooting him. The police officer was going to office when the incident took place.

Mastung SHO Abdul Rasool was injured when he came under fire near his house. He was admitted to civil hospital.

A Levies Force man was killed in Bala Nari area of Bolan district in a gunbattle with unidentified men.

The sources said that Levies men were chasing a gang of alleged criminals on a tip-off during which the latter opened fire, killing one constable. Three alleged criminals were captured after the exchange of fire.

One Mohammad Rahim was shot dead in Surpul area of Quetta when he was sitting at his shop. Another man, Nasir Rind, was gunned down on Brewery road over old enmity.

Two Levies Force men were injured in Chaman after some men opened fire on them.
