RAWALPINDI, April 7: Sindhi cultural show was a big attraction on Saturday for the visitors at Lok Mela organised by Lok Virsa (National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage).

The aesthetically designed colourful pavilion depicting the rich culture and traditional architecture of the land of Sufi saints – Sindh province was a centre of interest for the people who thronged the venue to have a glimpse at the cultural heritage of different regions of the country.

Coordinated by Sindh culture department, a contingent of over 100 participants including master artisans in various crafts, folk artists, rural musicians, instrumentalists and folk dance groups is actively participating and showcasing their cultural heritage.

The folk artists and musicians seen busy in performing at the pavilion include Raza Alan (singing in the style of legendary folk artist late Allan Faqir) while Urs Bhatti was performing at Alghoza, Ghous Bux Brohi at flute and Jiram Jogi at Murli.

Different folk dance groups including Sain Dad, Imam Dino, Agha group, Thari dancers, Chandi Faqir, Chapli dance group performed at the festival.

The creative artisans displayed their workmanship including Mst Siani (Khes weaving), Mst. Pari (Durree weaving), Arbab Soomro (Ajrak), Khan Chand (leather work), Sahib Dino (Sindhi cap), Nabi Bux (lacquer work), Abu Bakar (Chunri and embroidery work), Gopal Das (tie dye), Saleman (leather work), Khadim Hussain (Moenjodaro replicas), Mst. Sara (Charkha weaving), Sumero (Farasi weaving), Zamir Ahmed Khan (wood work), Faqir Mohammad (pottery) and Sobraj (shoemaking). The festival will continue till Sunday (April 15).
