ATHENS, April 6: An elderly Greek couple were killed by a train outside Athens on Friday when their car became stuck on the tracks, along with two Pakistani migrants who were also on the scene, the semi-state Athens News Agency said.
A third Pakistani migrant was injured and taken to hospital, ANA said.
Investigators said the Pakistanis could have been trying to rescue the stranded couple when the train running from Thessaloniki to Athens crashed into them, the agency said.
The accident occurred just after midday near the semi-rural town of Kryoneri, some 24km from the capital. The illegal forcing of train crossings is a regular source of rail accidents in Greece.—AFP
