HYDERABAD, March 22: The Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party chairman, Dr Qadir Magsi, has said that Sindh’s language and culture are in grave danger today.

The rulers have gifted Sindh’s lands to ‘outsiders’ in order to perpetuate themselves in power and they have also given them 60 per cent jobs while the educated youths of Sindh are committing suicide because of unemployment, said Dr Magsi while addressing the Youm-i-Madar-i-Watan public meeting, which concluded late on Wednesday night.

Thousands of people, inclu-ding women, of Hyderabad and adjoining towns attended the meeting.

He said the people of Sindh had voted for Pakistan People’s Party in 2008 general elections to enable the party to bring murderers of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to justice but the PPP rulers allowed them to fly out of the country and formed governments at the centre and provinces in coalition with supporters of Pervez Musharraf.

The rulers had betrayed the mandate of tens of millions of people of Sindh, he said, adding when the sons of workers and peasants would avenge the murder of Benazir Bhutto when they reached the assemblies and award exemplary punishment to her murderers.

He claimed the number of people attending that day’s public meeting was ten times more than the people in attendance at a public meeting addressed by Altaf Hussain on March 18.

Altaf Hussain and Farooq Sattar were forced to don Sindhi cap today because of persistent resistance by him and his colleagues.

He said the people of Sindh would defend every inch of their motherland.

About extortion in Karachi, he announced that if he and his companions were elected, they would make hooliganism disappear from politics. All powers had been handed over to governor and the chief minister was completely powerless, he said.

He said that extortion had become an issue because the People’s Amn Committee, Afaq Ahmed and Pakhtoons were creating hurdles to MQM’s “Bhata Khori”.

Sindh United Party chief Syed Shah Mohammad Shah said that SPNA was not just a dream it was a reality and the nationalist parties would jointly contest elections from its platform.

STP leaders Dr Rajab Ali Memon, Dr Haider Shahani, Sindh National Front leader Ayoub Shar and others also addressed the public meeting.
