ISLAMABAD, March 21: A labourer was badly burnt after being trapped in a container of an oil tanker which caught fire here on Wednesday, the police said.

The incident took place at Rawat when the victim, Ali Sheroz, descended in the container carrying some oil to check its damaged part while his younger brother was welding its bottom.

Due to leakage, the oil dripping from the damaged part caught fire from the welding gun. Flames spread in no time and Sheroz was trapped.

Hearing hue and cry of the labourer, his bother and other people rushed to rescue him. He was pulled out from the container but by that time 90 per cent of his body was burnt.

The rescuers also suffered minor burn injures. Later, he was shifted to hospital where he was given medical assistance and kept under observation. According to the doctors, his condition was critical.
