RAWALPINDI, March 19: The post of commissioner in Rawalpindi division that had been lying vacant for the last one month was finally filled on Monday after Punjab government issued notification appointing Imdadullah Bosal.

The appointment of former DCO, Imdadullah Bosal, as divisional head was imminent as bigwigs in the district were supporting him at a time when political parties were flexing muscles for the upcoming elections.

Although three senior bureaucrats including secretary food Punjab Irfan Elahi, ex-deputy commissioner Khawaja Shumail and secretary housing Irfan Ali were also interviewed by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, lady luck smiled on Mr Bosal despite the fact that he was quite junior to the three.

The new commissioner would assume charge on Wednesday.
