KARACHI, March 13: Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) was the only triumphant team in the ongoing KPT National Challenge Football Cup-2012 on Tuesday as the other two matches played on the day ended in draws.

KRL beat National Youth ‘A’ 2-1 at the KPT Football Stadium. Both the goals for KRL were scored by their star striker Rizwan Asif in the 44th and 61st minutes as Abdul Salam reduced the margin for National Youth ‘A’ in the 82nd minute.

Meanwhile, National Youth ‘A’ player Naveed was shown the yellow card in the 15th minute.

At the Peoples Sports Complex, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) held Police to a 1-1 draw. The goal for Police was scored by Naseebullah in the 52nd minute and Junaid Ahmed restored parity for NBP in the 86th minute.

It was a rough game with two players from Police, namely, defender Zahid (24th min) and forward Gul Daraz (75th min) getting yellow cards as was the scene with NBP’s midfielder Adnan Nazar (33rd min) and midfielder Mohammad Ishfaq (51st min).

Back again at the KPT Football Stadium, Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) drew 2-2 with GPA. The goals for GPA were scored by Tariq Badal (first min) and Naeem (27th min). KESC scored through Abdul Rehman (18th min) and Mohammad Musa (78th min). KESC’s defender Aurangzaib was shown the yellow card in the 26th minute.

Wednesday’s fixtures: (Group ‘A’) Navy v National Youth ‘B’ at 2.00pm at KPT Football Stadium; (Group ‘D’) Army v PPWD at 4.15pm at Peoples Football Stadium; (Group ‘D’) PAF v Railway at 4.15pm at KPT Football Stadium.
