Three shot dead

NOWSHERA, March 12: A man, his wife and sister-in-law were killed allegedly by a close relative over a domestic dispute at Pabbi area here, police said on Monday.

Police said Bakht Sayed killed his first cousin Juma Khan, his wife Parveen and sister-in-law Shamim at Jalozai.

The Pabbi police registered case against Bakht Sayed, who escaped after the incident.—Correspondent

Italy’s help for growers

ISLAMABAD, March 12: The Italian government has announced a grant of Euro 1.35 million to support fruit and vegetable growers in the Swat valley.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will utilise the amount to carry out a preliminary agro-environmental analysis for identification and planning of interventions to support the fruit and vegetable growers in the valley.

The project will be executed in one year with the objective to improve field production and post-harvest management.

Pakistan and Italy signed an agreement to this effect here on Monday. Italian Ambassador Vincenzo Prati and Secretary Economic Affairs Division Waqar Masood Khan signed the agreement.— Our Reporter

Man gunned down

GHALANAI, March 12: A man was killed while his wife was seriously injured in a firing incident in Shandarra area of Baizai on Monday, officials said.

They said the accused, Zar Jan, opened fire on Dil Jan, killing him on the spot, while injuring his wife, who was shifted to Peshawar.  The motive behind the incident was not known.

Meanwhile, security forces conducted search operation in Taraki Knado and Bagh Stop Gurbaz areas and defused 10 landmines. No suspects were arrested.—Correspondent

SCCI challenges FBR move

PESHAWAR, March 12: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has challenged Federal Board of Revenue’s SRO 191, issued in January 2012, in the Peshawar High Court.

Industrialist Zahid Shinwari, an SCCI member, filed a writ petition on behalf of the chamber, terming the SRO counterproductive for the business community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a press release issued on Monday.

SCCI president Afan Aziz said the expansion of the tax net was the job of the FBR, which it had transferred to the businessmen. As per the SRO, manufacturers have to collect national identity card number, sales tax registration number and national tax number of their clients for onward provision of information to the FBR.—Bureau Report

Data collection of foreigners

PESHAWAR, March 12: The home and tribal affairs department has dispatched a detailed pro forma to all the commissioners in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa aimed at collecting the information about the non-locals and foreigners.

A statement issued here on Monday said non-locals and foreigners were residing in different localities in the rented buildings both in the rural and urban areas. These people were being used by the terrorists for their nefarious designs.

The police had already been directed to collect details about such unregistered and suspected people.—Bureau Report
