Two highwaymen held

TAXILA, March 10: National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) after two-hour’s exchange of fire arrested two highwaymen for looting commuters traveling on motorway on early hours of Saturday.

Sector commander NHMP SSP Asim Gulzar while talking to newsmen here said that crew members of two trucks informed the patrolling staff that some people are looting passengers on motorway resultantly a team led by DSP Imran Haider intercepted the highwaymen. He said that after seeing the NHMP staff, the outlaws tried to flee but they were followed and after two hours police party arrested two outlaws identified as Shahid Iqbal and Nazakat Ali while their two accomplices ran away. — Correspondent

Self-immolation threat

ATTOCK, March 10: A couple threatened to commit suicide by setting themselves on fire in front of Supreme Court (SC) building if their missing daughter could not be recovered by the police.

Their daughter, they alleged, was kidnapped by some local influential people. An old man Adalat Hussain and his wife, residents of Sheenbagh village of Attock Saddar police station lodged a complaint before the Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Haji Habibur Rehman during his public meeting here at district council hall that their three-year-old girl had been missing since July 20, 2007. — Correspondent
