KARACHI, Dec 2: The People’s Party Parliamentarians chief, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, left for Dubai on Monday to brief the PPP chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, on the evolving political situation in the country.

According to PPP MNA Naveed Qamar, Makhdoom Fahim did not carry any government proposal for Ms Bhutto and said that “there is no deal in the offing as of now”.

Makhdoom Amin Fahim is likely to brief Benazir Bhutto on the efforts for forming government in Sindh and the situation that has emerged following postponement of the assembly’s inaugural session.

The visit has taken place amid speculations that Makhdoom Amin Fahim was soliciting support for his son, Makhdoom Jameeluzzaman, for the top slot in the province. However, PPP sources denied that this was on the card or the purpose of his visit.

Sources said that the Parliamentarians chief was also likely to take up the issue of defectors who created a forward bloc despite being elected on PPP platform.
