KARACHI, March 2: A judicial magistrate on Friday remanded three Frontier Constabulary personnel for eight days in police custody in a murder case.Hawaldar Mohammad Khursheed and constables Liaquat Ali and Faraz Khan have been booked for killing a seminary student and injuring five others within the remit of the Quaidabad police station on Thursday.

The police produced the suspects before the court of a judicial magistrate (Malir) on Friday and sought their remand.

Magistrate Aslam Shaikh handed the FC men over to police on physical remand till March 10 and directed the investigation officer to produce them on the next hearing with a progress report regarding the investigation.

According to the prosecution, some construction material fell on Khursheed as he was walking by an under-construction seminary building. That led to an altercation between him and some students, following which he went to the Quaidabad police station and brought along his two subordinates and opened fire, leaving Maulvi Rehman dead and five other students injured.

A case (FIR 119/12) was lodged under Sections 302 (punishment for premeditated murder), 324 (attempt to commit murder), 114 (abettor present when offence is committed) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code on a complaint of the deceased’s relative.
