TANK, Feb 29: Five officials of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor’s development programme were kidnapped by unidentified men in Pir Tangi area, 40 kilometres east of Tank city, on Wednesday.

Security officials told Dawn that the five officials were returning to Tank after inspection of development schemes in the frontier region of the district when they were kidnapped along with the official car in Pir Tangi area.

A contractor, Qaisar Khan, who was traveling along with the officials, was allowed to go by the kidnappers, the sources said.

The kidnapped officials included agency development officer Badshah Hazrat, field officer Noor Mohammad, site engineer Zeb Nawaz, monitoring officer Javed Iqbal and driver Akbar Zaman. —Correspondent
