SUKKUR, Feb 26: A man allegedly involved in the kidnapping five years ago of seven-year-old Fazila Sarki from the Garhi Hassan Sarki village near Thull surrendered to police on Sunday.

The accused Nandho Mirbahar was compelled to surrender after Thull and Jacobabad police picked up 10 women and three children, including Mirbahar’s wife, after raids on Iqbal Bijarani village in the kutcha area of Karampur in Kandhkot-Kashmore district on Saturday.

According to police sources, Mirbahar surrendered to DSP Noor Mohammad Soharyani and confessed to have kidnapped Fazila Sarki and handed her over to another gang of criminals.

Police did not disclose the name of the gang and continued to interrogate Mirbahar.

The sources said that influential man had persuaded Mirbahar to surrender after assuring him that police would release his wife and other women and children.

The Anti-Violent Crime Cell started raids on villages near Karampur and Garhi Tegho in search of Fazila Sarki.

The Supreme Court had taken suo motu notice of the case two years ago and ordered police to find her within a month.

Fazila’s family has been on a token hunger strike outside the Thull press club for more than a month.
