KARACHI: The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has strongly rejected the repeated moves made by Federal Board of Revenue to unilaterally impose condition of obtaining buyer’s CNIC.
In a press statement on Wednesday, KCCI President Mian Abrar Ahmad demanded immediate withdrawal of mandatory condition of CNIC/NTN vide SRO-821(I)/2011 for all purchases made by any unregistered person, which cerates immense hurdles in doing business smoothly.
He reiterated that the FBR should first complete the exercise by registering the whole supply chain and remove exemptions. He demanded that FBR should not burden the already registered taxpayers by imposing condition of furnishing CNIC/NTN for their sales because business and industrial community is already facing power, gas and water shortage, law and order situation and two weekly holidays.
He said the business and industrial community was not consulted before taking final decision on CNIC/NTN condition.
