LAHORE, Feb 18: Robbers looted cash and valuables worth Rs300,000 form three motorists on Motorway II near Kala Shah Kaku Interchange, 32 kilometres from the starting point, on Saturday.

A source in the National Highways and Motorway Police told that at least three robbers crossed over the fence at around9:15pm, put an eucalyptus log on one side of the road leading to Islamabad, stopped three motorists and looted cash, jewellery and cell phones from them. He said as soon as a police patrol team reached the scene, the suspects escaped on foot.

Valuables worth Rs1.1 million were reduced to ashes in two fire incidents in the city on Saturday.

Rescue 1122 personnel brought the blaze under control. The cause of fire in both incidents was said to be a short circuit.

In the first incident, the fire broke out in the house of Zafarullah in Osama Block of Nishtar Colony, burning down valuables worth Rs600,000.

In another incident, the blaze erupted in a furniture shop of Afzal Arshad in Furniture Market of Nawankot, gutting valuables worth Rs500,000. TRANSFER:

Inspector General of Police Haji Habibur Rahman transferred and posted three police officers here on Saturday.

According to a notification, Fayyaz Ahmad, Battalion Commander, Btn No 7 Punjab Constabulary, Lahore, has been transferred and posted PSO to the IGP against an existing vacancy.

SP Mahmoodul Hasan Gilani, who was awaiting posting, has been transferred and posted Battalion Commander Btn No 7 Punjab Constabulary, Lahore.

Punjab Counter Terrorism Department SP Karamatullah Malik has been transferred and posted Hafizabad SP Investigation against an existing vacancy.
