HYDERABAD, Dec 1: A group of writers and intellectuals observed a token hunger strike outside the press club here on Sunday against the murder of story writer Malik Agani and his son, Tanvir.

Led by Inam Shaikh, Taj Joyo, Iqbal Mullah and Tariq Alam, the protesters demanded immediate arrest of the killers and an inquiry into the matter by judges of the Sindh High Court.

They further demanded an impartial police officer should be appointed to investigate the case and the bereaved family should be given protection.

They said they would hold a protest demonstration after Eid to press for arrest of the killers.

The protesters also expressed their solidarity with writer Sunder Chandio, who had been observing a hunger strike for the last one week against the excesses of landlord Saeed Khan Chandio of Larkana.

The leaders of the Awami Tehrik, Rasool Bux Palijo, Abrar Kazi and others visited the hunger strike camp and assured the protesters of their support.
