ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Supreme Court Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Thursday took a suo moto notice over a building collapse in Lahore which caused around 20 lives, DawnNews reported.

The chief justice has also issued notices to concerned authorities in Lahore over deaths of around 20 people caused when building of a pharmaceutical factory collapsed on Monday.

Justice Shakirullah Jan and Justice Khilji Arif moved the apex court by separately filing petitions regarding the issue.

The chief justice has formed a three-member-bench which will be headed by Justice Jan. Notices have also been issued against chief secretary Punjab, commissioner Lahore, chairman LDA and others.

The bench will hear the case on Friday (tomorrow).
