KARACHI, Feb 7: Former Test captain Rashid Latif on Tuesday coached and gave tips to members of the Pakistan disabled cricket team at a training camp commenced at the National Stadium here in preparations for the upcoming tour against England to be held in Dubai from Feb 11 to 19.

Rashid, who is supervising the camp with the panel of coaches including former international Zafar Iqbal and Fareeduddin, gave batting, bowling and fielding tips to the disabled cricketers.

Team members also underwent different exercises in the morning and afternoon sessions.

Rashid said that it’s an honour for him to work these players, adding that the disabled cricketers have already made their mark at the international level with fine performance on their maiden trip to Malaysia and Singapore.

“Despite being handicapped they have shown remarkable skill and talent,” he maintained.

Rashid has also been appointed as the Disabled Cricket Roving Ambassador to help encourage the game among disabled players.The Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association (PDCA) has already named a 16-member national squad for the historic series against England being held at the ICC Global Cricket Academy Ground in Dubai.

A T20 practice match will also be played at the RLCA Ground (Gulberg) on Wednesday.

The Pakistan team leaves for Dubai on Thursday, PDCA secretary Amiruddin Ansari said.
