SWABI, Jan 20: The journalists' community of the district held separate meetings on Friday to condemn the killing of tribal journalist Mukarram Khan Atif.

The Abaseen Union of Journalists, Swabi Union of Journalists and Gandhara Union of Journalists at their separate meetings demanded immediate arrest of the killers.

BUNER: The newly elected office-bearers of Buner Press Club offered Fateha for the departed soul of Mukarram Khan Atif and demanded that the government should provide security of life to the journalists working in difficult situations.

The press club chairman, Muhibul Haq, and general secretary Syed Bacha Tarmzi and other officebearers, including Shaukat Ali, Saeedur Rashed, M Zahir Shah, Abdur Rahman Abid and Juma Said demanded of the government to arrest the killers of Mukarram Khan and provide justice to his family.

PARACHINAR: The journalists in Parachinar, headquarters of Kurram Agency, held Quran Khwani and offered Fateha for the departed soul of Mukarram Khan Atif.

The press club president Azmat Alizai and others said that the government should take steps to ensure that journalists performed their professional duties without fear and intimidation.
