NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Nov 27: The people have demanded of the government on Wednesday for opening an emergency ward at the Rural Health Centre, Halani, as soon as possible.

The emergency ward at the Rural Health Centre Halani was constructed in 1998 at a cost of Rs2 million.

Beds, oxygen cylinders, an operation theatre, two 40hp generators, and other office furniture had been provided for it several years ago. However, it has not been provided an emergency ward as yet.

The matter was taken up with higher authorities but in vain.

The Citizens Ittehad asked the district Nazim to have something done about it soon. So the latter asked the EDO, health, for opening an emergency ward without delay.

The EDO, health, formed an enquiry team consisting of the then medical officer, Rural Health Centre, Halani, Dr Saban Shah, Dr Mohammad Saleh Almani, the then medical superintendent Taluka hospital Kandiaro, and Dr Dawood Solangi.

Soon the enquiry team submitted a report in which it was stated that some construction work was still left.

The Citizens Ittehad requested that the emergency ward, for which equipment and other paraphernalia were available, be opened soon and the building department be advised for completing the remaining work.

Sometime back, the clinical photo metre machine (worth Rs600,000) meant for the emergency ward was sent to the Taluka hospital Moro. When the public raised an uproar over it, the machine was sent back to the Rural Health Centre Halani.

The people of Halani wonder as to who is responsible for not providing them an emergency ward as yet as funds for it had been provided by the World Healthcare Project several years ago.
