KARACHI, Jan 9: The Steel Town police claimed to have arrested a man who allegedly confessed to having killed his daughter-in-law, whose decapitated body had been found on Dec 26.

The police also recovered the head of the woman from the bushes near Mateen Complex on the information provided by the suspect on Monday.

On Dec 26 the headless body of a woman was found ina desolate place within the remit of the Steel Town police station and an FIR in connection with the killing of the woman was registered on behalf of the state at the same police station.

Steel Town SHO Irfan Meo said that the headless body was identified as that of Sumera, wife of Javed. During investigation, the police picked up the victim's fatherin-law, Hayat Gul, and on Monday he confessed to hav-ing killed her on Dec 26. He said he was helped in the commissioning of the offence by her husband, Javed, and her brother-in-law, Waheed.

He said that Gul led the police to the place where the police found the head and the murder weapon, a dagger.

The area SHO said that they allegedly killed her because they had doubts over her character. The other suspects, Javed and Waheed, are still at large.-Staff Reporter
