KARACHI, Jan 6: The 59th National Hockey Championship will be played at the Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium here from Jan 26 to Feb 11.

The championship will feature 10 teams including Pakistan International Airlines, National Bank of Pakistan, Sui Southern Gas Company, Habib Bank Limited, Wapda, Army, Navy, Port Qasim Authority, Pakistan Air Force and PHF Academy.

According to a Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) news release, Olympian Ahmed Alam will be the tournament director while Mohammad Farooq will be the organising secretary of the tournament with Hassan Askari, Saadat Hussain Naqvi and Mian Zahid Iqbal as the assistant tournament directors.

The other technical officials include Dr S.A. Majid, Farooq Ashraf Awan, Javaid Iqbal, Mohammad Shafique Bhatti and Talat Hussain (tournament officers); Haroon Saeed, Allah Dad, Faisal Abbas Shah, Ehsan-ul-Haq Babar, Haq Nawaz (judges); Rashad Mahmood Butt will be the umpires’ manager with assistance from Saeed Ahmed; Malik M. Haider Rasool, Amir Hamza, Hanif-ud-Dian, Ghufran Ahmed, Kamran Hussain, Naveed Iqbal, Rana Mohammad Liaquat, Shahid Pervaiz, Anwaar Hussain and Mahmood (umpires).
