PO killed, cop injured in encounter

SAHIWAL, Nov 17: A proclaimed offender was killed and a constable sustained serious injuries on Saturday in an encounter in a nearby Kamir town.

PO Saleemi Gongi and his driver had come on their car and started firing in the air to scare the area people who reported the matter to police. After a short while, two policemen — ASI Ghulam Rasool and constable Arshad — reached the spot. Taking in the situation quickly, the PO opened fire on police, injuring constable Arshad. The injured constable returned the fire which killed PO Saleemi instantly while his driver managed to drove away with the vehicle. The injured was rushed to the local DHQ Hospital where he was stated to be in serious condition.

Kamir police have registered a case.

RECOVERED: Acting on a tip-off, Harappa police on Saturday raided Chak 66/GD and recovered 35 bottles of liquor from Shabbir Ahmed.
