KARACHI, Dec 31: National champion Aqeel Khan trounced his younger brother Yasir Khan in the final of the Subh-e-Nau National Hard Court tennis championship at the CDGK Sports Complex here on Saturday.

Aqeel faced stiff resistance from Yasir before bagging the men’s singles title 6-4, 6-4.

Aqeel was awarded Rs15,000 as prize money while Yasir received Rs8,000.

In the ladies’ singles final, favourite Maheen Dada added yet another feather in her cap as she thrashed Hania Naveed 6-0, 6-0.

The winner was awarded Rs5,000 while the runner-up got Rs3,000.

Zohair Raza won the boys’ U-18 title after outclassing Talha Zubair 6-1, 6-1. The winner did not allow Talha to play his natural game.

Zohair received Rs7,000 prize money while the runner-up bagged Rs4,000.

M. Azhar showed some resistance against Dawar Rehan, however, Dawar clinched the title 7-5, 6-3 in the mixed U-14 final.
