KASUR, Nov 17: All sugar mills in the district will start crushing season before November 26 and millers will have to make payment to the cultivators within 30 days.

It was decided during a meeting presided over by Kasur DCO Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad here on Saturday. District Naib Nazim Mian Sana Khaliq Karimi was also present besides EDOs and DOs of departments concerned.

The meeting decided that the mills which will not start crushing before November 26, will not get sugarcane supply.

The DCO said stern action will be taken against middlemen and owners of unauthorized weigh bridges.

Small cultivators will be issued permits.

DACOITY: Cash and gold ornaments were taken away from a house in Mulanwala village, Pattoki, on Saturday.

Five dacoits forced their entry into the house of Muhammad Irshad. They held up the inmates, collected Rs55,000 and gold ornaments weighing 7 tolas and fled away while firing in the air.

Irshad later identified one of the dacoits as Sharif.

WATER, POWER THEFT: Sixteen people were booked for electricity and water theft, Kasur police said on Saturday.

Irfan, Rafiq and Shafi were among the seven men found stealing electricity. Cases against nine people, including Younus, Qamar and Hayat were registered for water theft.
