KARACHI, Dec 28: A suspect on Wednesday confessed before a judicial magistrate to having killed his three daughters.The police arrested the suspect on Dec 21 and claimed that he had confessed to having killed his daughters in October in an Orangi Town locality.

Earlier, the investigation officer had moved an application and stated that the suspect was willing to admit to his guilt before the court.

The IO produced the suspect before judicial magistrate (west) Sohail Leghari and after completing legal formalities the JM recorded the confessional statement of the suspect under Section 164 of the criminal procedure code.

The suspect testified that he was a dairy farmer. On Oct 7 his wife had left for Punjab following the death of her uncle. He was fed up with running his business and also looking after the six children, two elder daughters being handicapped.

He further stated that on Oct 14 he brought food laced with a sedative and his three daughters aged between 16 and eight years fell unconscious and he himself was in a semi-unconscious state after eating it.

He drowned the girls in the pond set up for the cattle, the suspect confessed, but denied he had sexually assaulted them.

The court sent the suspect to prison on judicial remand till Jan 4 and directed the IO to submit a charge-sheet in the case.

According to the prosecution, the victims were found dead in the pond on the premises of their house, located in Mairajun Nabi Colony of Orangi Town Sector 10 on Oct 15.

A case (FIR 447/11) was registered under Sections 302 (punishment for premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
