Vendor arrested

LAHORE, Dec 25: A special monitoring team of the City District Government of Lahore got arrested on Sunday a vendor and imposed a fine on others for overcharging and selling substandard commodities in Sunday bazaars.

The team led by District Officer (Monitoring) Amin Akbar Chopra got arrested vendor Akbar Ali in Gulshan-i-Ravi Sunday Bazaar and imposed a fine of Rs9,500 on others at Moon Market and Johar Town bazaars.

It also cancelled license of another vendor for violating the market committee’s price lists at Wahdat Colony Sunday Bazaar.

Comparing the last week’s price lists with the current one, the team observed an increase in prices of six of the 27 vegetables and four of the 22 available fruits. It directed market committee officials to regularly visit the wholesale markets in order to ensure provision of commodities on cheaper rates.
