Published November 24, 2002

LAHORE, Nov 23: MMA coordination secretary Liaquat Baloch has said that no decision has been made to change the alliance’s leadership and Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani will continue to be the chief.

In a statement here Saturday, Mr Baloch said that the MMA achieved the success under the leadership of Mr Noorani and he would continue to be the head of the alliance as all the constituent parties of religio-political conglomerate had full confidence in his leadership.

He said that JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed was the MMA’s parliamentary leader in the National Assembly and would be leader of opposition in the House as the MMA had become the second largest party.

He said the MMA would play role of positive, constructive and democratic opposition in the parliament.

Regarding possibility of united opposition, he said the option was also under consideration and being given due weight.—APP
