LAHORE, Nov 23: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) will consider an option to unite opposition parties on one platform, says MMA coordination committee chief and MNA Liaquat Baloch.

In a statement here, he said the religious parties alliance believed in a joint struggle for restoration of democracy to the country and it was ready to cooperate with other parties in this regard.

He denied the reports that Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani would step down as MMA president. “The alliance has gained a substantial success under the chair of Maulana Noorani and there is no justification for replacing him.”

He also made it clear that as the MMA had emerged as the second largest party in the polls for prime minister and speaker’s offices so its vice-president Qazi Husain Ahmad would be opposition leader in the house.

The MMA has in an earlier meeting nominated Qazi Husain as its parliamentary leader in the National Assembly.

JAVED HASHMI: PML-N acting president and MNA Makhdoom Javed Hashmi will go to Multan via Okara, Sahiwal and Khanewal on Sunday.

It will be his first visit to his home district after release from the NAB custody.

Punjab president Zulfikar Khosa, secretary-general Khwaja Saad Rafiq and other leaders will accompany him.

The procession will leave Lahore at 8:30am and reach Renala Khurd at 10:30am, Okara at 11am, Sahiwal at 11:45am, Chechawatni at 12:15pm, Khanewal at 12:40pm and Multan at 1:30pm, says a press release of the party.
