KARACHI, Dec 13: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two alleged terrorists of the Punjabi Taliban group and seized arms and ammunition from their possession.

A handout issued stated that the CID police with the assistance of a federal intelligence agency carried out a raid and arrested Abdul Wahid alias Lala alias Guddu and Muhammad Shakeel after an encou-nter on National Highway within the remit of the Sohrab Goth police station.

The police seized 10 kilograms of explosive material, three Kalashnikovs rifles, two pistols with magazines and 200 bullets from their possession.

Moreover, during the course of investigations, the suspects informed the police about more arms and ammunition and the police recovered 20 kilos of explosives, three kilograms of bearing balls, a five-metre detonator chord, three detonators, one hand-grenade, one Kalashnikov, one MP-5 and 220 bullets.

During the investigation, the suspects disclosed that they belonged to the Punjabi Taliban group and their chief, Ameer Ustad Qari Aslam, belonged to Waziristan.

They said they used to live in a rented house at Haji Mureed Goth in Khamosh Colony where all members used to meet to devise their plans and all their weapons were also stored in the house.—PPI
