LAHORE, Dec 12: The Nishtar Colony police are interrogating a 55-year-old man who was allegedly caught burying a newborn baby at a graveyard in Rehman Town on Dec 1.

The suspect identified as Majeed Masih, alias Toti Saen, of Yohnnaabad, however, told investigators that he was passing by and did not know about the body and the people who were burying it.

Muhammad Javed, of Yasir Block, Nishtar Colony, lodged a murder case, saying that he and his five friends were passing through Rehman Town graveyard at midnight when they saw five people digging a hole and burying the body of a newborn baby.

He said that they overpowered Majid and handed him over to the police while four other suspects fled. A police officer said that three more suspects were being interrogated in this case.

Accident: A woman was killed and another sustained injuries when they were hit by a truck during a marriage ceremony at the Governor’s House on Monday.

Civil Lines police said a ceremony was taking place at the quarter of Rashid Masih, a sanitary worker, when a helper, who came with the catering truck, reversed the vehicle for reloading the goods and hit the women sitting behind.

The injured women were rushed to a hospital where Fauzia, a mother of three, succumbed to her wounds while the condition of Nosheen was said to be stable.

Helper Mubashir was taken into custody and was booked in a case.

Fauzia had come to attend the marriage along with her husband, Robin Masih of Rawalpindi.
