KARACHI, Dec 12: The first National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Inter-club Women Football Tournament kicks off from Dec 18 at the Peoples Sports Complex here.

This was announced by NBP’s Assistant Vice President and Wing Head Sports Division Anwer Saeed at the Karachi Press Club here on Monday.

“The event features seven club teams while another three outfits, one from Rawalpindi and two from Balochistan, are also likely to participate and will confirm at the time of the draws which will be held at the coaching centre on Dec 17th,” said the former badminton champion.

The seven teams have been divided into two pools. Pool ‘A’ comprises Young Rising Women Football Club, Karachi United Football Club and Diya Women Football Club while Liya Women Football Club, Jamshoro Women Football Club, City Women Football Club and Karachi Women Football Club make up make up Pool ‘B’.

The matches will be played on a single league basis at two venues, KPT Football Stadium being the other one. The event is being sponsored by NBP’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) division in collaboration with the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).

The tournament will be inaugurated by PFF Women Wing Chairperson Rubina Irfan at the Peoples Sports Complex at 3.00pm on Dec 18 while NBP Head of Sports Division, former Test cricketer Iqbal Qasim will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony on Dec 23.
