PESHAWAR, Dec 12: Former provincial minister Iftikhar Khan Jhagra, who recently joined Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, has requested party's chairman Imran Khan to contest the next general election from Peshawar.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, the former PPP leader said that Imran Khan was the only leader who could be trusted to establish rule of law, end corruption and ensure merit in the country. He said that PTI's workers were enthusiastic about chairman's election from NA-1 constituency.

The people, he said, were sick with the corrupt politicians and wanted an end to price-hike, unemployment, violation of merit, energy crisis and loadshedding. He said that those who had accounts in foreign banks would have to show source of their income or face action when PTI came into power.

Mr Jhagra said that he had joined the party to serve the people under Imran Khan and was not interested in any party post or ticket for election. He said that time had come for a change because the multiplicity of problems had gripped the population.

The people, he said, were aware of the tactics adopted by the traditional political parties and would vote them out in the coming polls. He asked the PTI workers to spread the party's message to every nook and corner of the country.—Bureau Report
