KARACHI, Dec 8: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) has called upon Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan to allot a piece of land in the city sports complex, Kashmir Road, for setting up an exclusive academy for the uplift of the game.

“We’ve acquired four Shender snooker tables and accessories from abroad and were lying in a warehouse following clearance from the port,” president of the PBSA, Alamgir Shaikh, said in a communication to the governor, copy of which was obtained by Dawn.

He said: “The PBSA is desperate to set up academy for the game which is need of the hour if Pakistan wants to bring more laurels to the nation,”

It is pertinent to mention that the PBSA has drawn attention of the Sindh governor after it failed to get positive response from pillar to post including Punjab chief minister and the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).

He also threw light on Pakistan’s achievements in the baize game particularly, after revival of the PBSA quarter-of-a-century ago.

“Our achievements can be compared with any other prominent sports body of the country that have their own infrastructure and enjoys financial support from the government,” he added.
