LAHORE: Foolproof security arrangements will be made for the China hockey team scheduled to tour Pakistan from Dec 19 to 25 to feature in the four-match series.

China will arrive in Karachi on Dec 19 to play the opener on Dec 21 and the second match on Dec 22.

Pakistan will take on China in the third match on Dec 24 in Faisalabad while the final contest will be held in Lahore on Dec 25.

Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary Asif Bajwa said that PHF president Qasim Zia met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday in connection with ensuring strict security arrangements during the series.

He said the series was important, since it would help Pakistan restore confidence of other teams to tour Pakistan in future.

Irfan Khokhar has been named as security coordinator for the series, said the secretary, who stated that the PHF president also informed the chief minister about delay in laying an astroturf at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore, where the players will practise for the London Olympics.
